"L'Abbe Constantin — Complete" by Ludovic Halévy is a novel published in 1882. When an American actress purchases a French village estate, the elderly Abbot Constantine fears she will corrupt his beloved peasant community. The Protestant "heretic" seems to threaten everything the priest has protected for thirty years. But as Ms. Scott settles into the Castle of Longueval, unexpected revelations challenge the abbot's assumptions about faith, virtue, and the true nature of
goodness. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
