"幽明錄" by Yiqing Liu is a collection of supernatural tales from 5th-century China. These stories explore immortals, ghosts, the afterlife, and Buddhist themes like karmic retribution. Originally compiled in either 20 or 30 volumes, the text was lost before the Northern Song dynasty but later reconstructed from citations in other works. A Qing dynasty recompilation gathered 158 stories, later expanded to 265. The collection stands as one of the earliest Chinese works
displaying Buddhist influences. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
