"Le roman de la rose - Tome IV" by Guillaume de Lorris and Jean de Meun is a medieval French allegorical poem written in two parts between 1230-1269. This dream vision follows a lover's quest to reach a rose symbolizing his beloved within an enclosed garden. The first part presents courtly romance; the second transforms into philosophical discourse, satirizing religious hypocrisy and overturning ideals of courtly love through cynical observations about human
nature, desire, and society. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
