"Les grandes chroniques de France (1/6)" by Paulin Paris is a medieval chronicle written around 1250. This monumental work traces French royal history from the supposed Trojan ancestors of the Franks through the Merovingian, Carolingian, and Capetian dynasties. Originally composed by the monk Primat of Saint-Denis, the chronicle was continuously expanded throughout the fourteenth century, becoming the centerpiece of French royal historiography. Lavishly illustrated manuscripts captivated princes and aristocrats, with over 115
copies surviving from before the Renaissance. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
