"Πελοποννησιακός Πόλεμος, Τόμος τέταρτος" by Thucydides is a historical account written in the 5th century BC. This work chronicles the devastating Peloponnesian War between Sparta's league and Athens' alliance. Written by an Athenian general who fought in the conflict, it pioneered rigorous historical methodology through strict chronology and eyewitness testimony. The unfinished narrative ends abruptly in 411 BC, leaving the war's conclusion untold. Scholars debate whether it represents objective history or artful
literature shaped by human drama and symbolic meaning. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
