"公墓" by Shiying Mu is a collection of short stories written in the early 20th century. The work delves into complex emotional landscapes and societal dynamics, often exploring themes of loneliness, human relationships, and the struggles against societal expectations. The main characters and narratives seem to focus on individuals experiencing varied emotional states and personal dilemmas. The opening of "公墓" introduces readers to the author's reflections on the duality of their writing
persona, mentioning two distinct novels conceived simultaneously: one characterized by despair and another exploring romantic interludes. Most notably, one story titled "被當作消遣品的男子" begins with a male protagonist's introspection and unsettling emotions as he navigates his feelings towards a captivating yet enigmatic woman named 蓉子. The protagonist's thoughts reveal his anxieties about love, self-identity, and the societal pressures surrounding their interactions, hinting at a tumultuous emotional journey. This section sets the tone for the exploration of loneliness and human connections throughout the collection. (This is an automatically generated summary.)
