The GUTINDEX Listings of EBooks
These files have not been updated since late 2008, due to one of our wonderful volunteers moving on to other ventures. We hope it will be updated again in the future. The GUTINDEX files list all our eBooks chronologically (updated weekly). This file also explains our new and old filing systems.
- GUTINDEX.ALL
- GUTINDEX.zip (same as above zipped)
A separate listing is maintained for Project Gutenberg of Australia:
GUTINDEX Listings by Year
If GUTINDEX.ALL is too big, you can download GUTINDEX files by year.
EBooks after #10.000
As mentioned above, listings only go through the end of 2008.

EBooks #1 to #10.000
Note: these books were originally filed in directories by 'planned release year'. By 2003 we got about 3 years ahead of schedule, so books planned for release in 2006 were actually released in 2003.

Directory Listings
EBooks 1 to 10.000 were located in 'planned release year' directories. After eBook 10.000 we changed our filing system. We also started to move some of the pre-10.000 books into the new filing system. To know if a pre-10.000 book has already been moved to the new filing system you have to consult GUTINDEX.ALL.

The Project Gutenberg Catalog in Machine-Readable Format
The Project Gutenberg Catalog is now available in machine-readable format using XML/RDF. This is updated daily. Please use one of those files to feed your database instead of roboting our site.
MARC Records (offsite)
Machine-readable cataloging (MARC) records are freely provided for all Project Gutenberg titles, updated approximately quarterly, at www.cucat.org/library/pgmarc.mrc.zip
These records are provided by Beyond Books, Beyond Barriers (www.cucat.org/library/), a project of the Association for the Blind of Western Australia that will produce DAISY digital talking book formats of any Project Gutenberg title. DAISY is the international standard for digital talking books used by the blind and print disabled. These are full text full audio DAISY books supporting full DAISY navigation.
