Bayan cong pinacaiirog: Ang unang pinasasalubung̃an ng̃ maligayang pagbati at pagpipitagan, sampu ng̃ lahat ng̃ mg̃a napipisan, lalong lalo na ang mg̃a ginoong bumubuo ng̃ pagpapaonlac sa carang̃alán ng̃ dakilang Rizal na casalucuyang ipinagdidiwang ng̃ capuluang Filipinas, cayo'y hinahandugan ng̃ayon ng̃ di mabilang na pasasalamat, sanhi ng̃ pagcatanim sa kaibuturan ng̃ puso ng̃ araw na itong di co rin nililimot.
Baga man culang pa sa tapat na cagulang̃an ang cutad na pag-iisip sa Páhiná 4tungculing ng̃ayo'y ipinamahala, datapuwa, pinagtamanan cahit anong hirap, macatupad lamang sa adhica ng̃ mg̃a capatid sa mabigat na pasaning aco'y maging isa sa magpapaonlac, sa pamamag-itan ng̃ bigcás, gayon sa pamimintuho sa Bayan cong kinamulatan.
Cung ang pupulas sa labi sa oras na ito ay culang sa timyas, ang madlang nai-ipon na ang macatataroc ng̃ lalim ng̃ aking pagcapahat, ng̃uni magi-ging isang pamucaw, isang pagcantig sa pintuan ng̃ calooban, bagay sa caramihang nagwawacsi pa ng̃ tunay na damdamin at sumasampalataya sa hiduang aral ng̃ mg̃a nagcucubling halimaw na nag aanyon mabait, bago'y caaway ng̃ cagaling̃an, na di pa nasiyahan sa tinalicdang pagtatamasa ng̃ mg̃a cahirapan, cundi bagcus namamalagtas sa lalong pag-api at pagdustang nacalalagim sa isang hindi nang̃imi sa camatayan macapagbucás sa tulóg na loob ng̃ canyang cababayan, at naging mananacop ng̃ Filipinas sa paghahayin ng̃ buhay ng̃ icatutubós sa tanán, ng̃uni, ¡anong hapding salang̃in! ¡anong pait namnamin! cung madilidiling yuco sa dating caugalian ang pinaghabinlang ilán ng̃ canyang mg̃a talinghaga.
¿Ibig ninyong makilala? ¡ah! wala acong carapatang tumurol at sucat na lamang ipatalastas ang nacapanghihilacbot na usapan ng̃ mg̃a lahing Lacandula rin, upang mang̃akilalang sila'y dapat pacasumpain, na anila'y: Si Rizal ang tunay na may casalanan at nagcalat ng̃ caguluhan at cahirapang tinatangkilic ng̃ayon ng̃ Bayan, mg̃a pang̃ung̃usap na di napag labanan ng̃ puso cong iwi at naramdamang lumuha ng̃ dugó, at naipucol naman tuloy ang wicang: bakit hindi mang̃atal at mapipi ang cumacatal ng̃ walang catotohanan; datapua't ng̃ macapaghunos dili sa paglalatang ng̃ galit sa sumandaling iyon ay dagling binawi at pinapaghari ang capatawarang naisigao ang mahalagang bigcas ng̃ Póong si Jesús, ng̃ napapaco sa Cruz ng̃ casalanan: Dios co sila'y patawarin mo sapagcat hindi nalalaman ang canilang guinagawa (Palacpacan).
Talastas ng̃ lahat ang Bayan sinilang̃an ng̃ ating ipinag-gagalac ng̃ayon, iyang dacong sinisicatan ng̃ maliwanag na araw, na pinamumutictican ng̃ mg̃a bagong silang na pagmamalasakit, diyan sa Calamba, niyong ika labing siyam ng̃ Junio ng̃ taong isang libo, walong daa't anim na pu't isa, sa macatuid, ganap na apat na pu't limang taon limang buan at labing isang araw ng̃ayon, at buhat naman ng̃ Páhiná 6gupuin ang canyang iniing̃atang buhay ng̃ mg̃a lihim na caaway, ay sampung taon ng̃ayon walang culang.

Tayo naman, lalo na cayong mg̃a caPáhiná 7binataang dumog sa pag-aaral, cunang halimbaua ang canyang mg̃a pagsisicap. Si Rizal, hindi dito lamang sa Filipinas tinuclas ang caaya-ayang carunung̃an, cundi naglacbay sa España, niyong taong isang libo, walong daa't walong pu't dalaua, sa pang-ulong bayan nito, sa Paris, sa Bruselas sa Berlin, sa Londres, sa Gante at sa mg̃a pang̃ulong Ciudad ng̃ Rhin at doon natutuhan ang ucol sa pangagamot, «Filologia», «Etnologia», «Filosofía» at «Letras».
Iniwagayway ang nacamtan sa pagtitiyaga sa Capuluang ito, ng̃uni agad hinarang ng̃ mg̃a malicmatang mapagpahirap, sapagca't hindi maglalaon cung pababayaang magpapatuloy, at lilitaw ang itinatago-tago at kinikipkip na calayaan ng̃ Filipinas, gayon man, hindi tumudla ng̃ macamandag, at sucat ng̃ tinugon ang pang̃ung̃usap nila ng̃ papaganito: «Na ang lahat ng̃ mg̃a lahi ng̃ tao ay nagcacaiba iba lamang sa canilang mg̃a anyo, ng̃uni alinsunod sa Psicologia, ang maputi, ang abo-abo, ang madilaw, ang cayumangui at ang maitim ay magcacaisa ng̃ caramdaman, nagcacawang̃is ang mg̃a umu-udyoc na budhi at hilig na magpapatiboc ng̃ puso, ang pinagcacaibhan lamang ay ang paraan ng̃ pagsasaysay ó pag-gawa.»
«Na walang napagkikilala ang mg̃a AnPáhiná 8tropologo cundi ang mg̃a lahi; na ang napagmamalas lamang ng̃ mg̃a mapagmasid ng̃ mg̃a pamumuhay ng̃ bawa't nación, ay ang pagcacaiba't iba ng̃ calagayan, ng̃ mayama't mahirap, ng̃ mahal at timawa. Na sa mg̃a nayong lalong mg̃a paham ng̃ Francia at Alemania, ang lalong marami sa mg̃a nananahan doo'y casing pantay rin ng̃ calagayan ng̃ pag-iisip ng̃ mg̃a tagalog, at ang culay ng̃ balat, pananamit at wicang guinagamit ang bilang caibhan lamang.»
«Na ang pag-iisip ay tulad sa mg̃a cayamanan at cung may mg̃a naciong mayaman at mahirap, ay may mg̃a tao ring mahirap at mayaman: Cung may nagbabalac na taong siya'y ipinang̃anac na pagdaca'y mayaman, ang gayong tao'y namamali, sapagca't siya'y sumilang ng̃ hubad na cawang̃is ng̃ alipin at iba't iba pang lubhang mahahalaga, (Noli me tangere dahong icapito).»
Pinag-inutan din niyang sinulat ang Noli me tangere na naghahayag ng̃ sari-saring halimbawa, na isinawicang frances ng̃ taong isang libo, walong daa't walong pu't siyam ng̃ mang̃ang̃alacal na capisanan ni Stock, gayon din ang isinulat ni Dr. Morga na canyang dinagdagán ng̃ mg̃a paliwanag ng̃ siya'y macapangaling sa Japón at Norte America na nanahan sa Páhiná 9Londres. Dito'y mahihinuha na ang canyang catalinuhang calakip ang pagsasangalang sa Bayan, sapagcat tumanghal ang canyang pang̃alan sa pamamag-itan ng̃ pakikibaca sa mg̃a calapastang̃anang cumacalat sa mg̃a paglulubog sa matwid hangang binawiang buhay ng̃ hindi sa sakit cundi sa bilis ng̃ punlong pamatay ¡Oh catiwalian ng̃ panahon! Bahagya pang umuusbong ang larawan iguinuguhit sa dulo ng̃ mg̃a sandata ay isinabog na ang apoy ng̃ capahamacan ng̃ isang namamahalang nacuha sa kintab ng̃ cayamanan, dinaig ng̃ capangyarihan at nagwasac ng̃ mahusay na pananangkilic.
¿Natupad caya ang nais na hadlang̃an ang bawa't tung̃o ni Rizal? ¡ah! hindi ng̃a at lalong nagsigla, bagcus nag alab ang sidhi ng̃ namumuksa, sumulac ang dugo at mandi'y iniukit sa pitac ng̃ dibdib, caya't hindi tinugutan hangang sa maibagsac ang pamamahalang walang matuid na pinanaPáhiná 10nangnan ang sulsol at hicayat ng̃ ilang malabis nating kinapopootan.
Sa guitna ng̃ di maulatang pagpipighatí at pakikipanayam cay Simoun, ay nagsalita nitong sumusunod.
«Isang Dios ang nagpaparusa sa caculang̃an ng̃ pananampalataya sa pagcagumon sa masamang hilig, sa casalatán natin ng̃ dalisay na pagsinta sa kinamulatang lupa at sa madalás nating pagpapaunlac sa mg̃a cababayang nabubuhay sa pagpapahirap sa mg̃a duc-ha, carapat dapat ng̃a, lubha ng̃ang carapat dapat na ating tiisin ang bung̃a ng̃ ating mg̃a cagagawan at tiisin naman ng̃ ating mg̃a anac, iyan ng̃a ang Dios ng̃ kalayaan, guinoong Simoun na siyang sa ati'y pumipilit na ating iruguin ang calayaang iyan, upang hwag na lubhang magbigay cabigatan sa atin. Hindi ko sinasabing ating paghanapin sa patalim ng̃ sandata ang ating iguiguinhawa, sapagca't hindi cailang̃an ang espada sa icagagalíng ng̃ Bayan, datapwa't tutuclasin natin ang cagaling̃ang iyan sa pamamag-itan ng̃ carapatan, sa pagbibigay unlac sa catwiran at sa sariling camahalan ng̃ isang tao, sa pag-sintang dalisay sa tapat na asal, sa ano mang bagay na mabuti at sa ano mang cadakilaan hangang sa ihayin ang buhay sa camatayan, at pagca dumatíng na ang Páhiná 11Bayan sa gayong mataas na calagayan, ang Dios ang sa canya'y nagbibigay ng̃ sandata at nabubulíd ang mg̃a nagpapasamba, nabubual ang mg̃a tampalasan, catulad ng̃ pagcalansag ng̃ mg̃a bahay bahayang baraja. Tayo rin ang may gawa ng̃ ating mg̃a pagdaralita, hwag nating bigyan sala ang sino man cundi liniling̃ap at pinababayaang tayo'y apihin ng̃ calupitan, sapagca't cung makita sana niyang tayo'y nahahandang makitungali at magtiis ng̃ cahirapan dahil sa pagsasangalang ng̃ ating catuiran, maniuala cayong ang di dumiding̃ig na iyan ang siyang una unang magcacaloob ng̃ calayaan, datapwa't samantalang hindi tinataglay ng̃ Bayang Filipinas ang casucatang lacás ng̃ loob upang isigaw na nacatunghay ang noo at hubad ang dibdib sa canyang carapatang magtamó ng̃ catuirang makisalamuha sa lahat at papagtibayin ang catuirang iyan ng̃ canyang sariling dugó; hangang ating nakikitang ang mg̃a cababayan nati'y sa sariling calooba'y nagdaramdam ng̃ hiya at diniring̃ig ang atung̃al ng̃ tinig ng̃ masamang budhi na nagng̃ing̃itng̃it at tumutol na sa hayag ay ayaw umimic at nakikisang-ayon sa nagpapahirap upang cutyain ang pinasakitan at pinarurusahan, samantalang nananatili ang ating mg̃a carugo sa tacsil na asal na walang ini-ibig cundi ang sariling Páhiná 12 cagaling̃an; ¿bakit sila'y bibigyang calayaan? Ating panimbulanan ang canyang mg̃a sinabi, patuluyang sampalatayanan na siyang macapaghahatid sa ating icaguiguinhawa, at sumandaling pacaisipn ang mg̃a macabubuhay na pananalita na dapat itanim cailan man ng̃ mahinang puso at tutupin ang dibdib at itanong sa sarili:
¿Taglay na baga natin ang kinacailang̃ang tapang ng̃ loob, upang biglang pacaualan Páhiná 13ang pinagtitipunan ng̃ bucal at minimithi?

¿Hindi na caya naghahari sa calooban ng̃ marami sa atin ang malupit na asal na mapagaling lamang ang canyang sariling catawan ay hindi na inaalintana ang cahabaghabag na kinasasapitan ng̃ lupang kinakitaan ng̃ unang liwanag?
¿Naubos na caya sa sangcapuluang ito ang mg̃a nagsisi-irog sa caalipnan, caya sa caalipna'y nagsisisuco?
¿May dugo pa cayang may dung̃is na catacsilan sa ating mg̃a calahi?
¡Ah! ang canilang loob ay hindi matuturing̃an hangan sa di naipamamalas sa gawa, pagcat cung aking pakimatyagan baga man sa harapang ito ay nagcacatusac ang nakikipagdiwang sa mabunying Rizal, may mang̃ilan ng̃ilan ding binabayo ang dibdib sa matinding pag cagalit na hindi lamang maibulalas pagcat daig sila sa bilang ¡oh cay saclap na matalos! Sayang ang bayang humahanap ng̃ icalalaya cung sa bawa't pulutong ay may nasising̃it na palamara. (Palacpacan).
¿Hindi dapat pagtachan, sapagca't ang dakilang Jesús ay Dios ng̃ humirang ng̃ labing dalawa lamang na caniyang cacasamahin ay may nalahog na isang Judas, ¿gasino pa cayang hindi magcaroon ng̃ libo libo at lacsa lacsang namamayan?
Tacpan ang paning̃in sa paglacad ay malaking camalian; gapusin ang camay, lalong cahiduaan at cung susian ang bibig sa paglalathala sa harap ng̃ may capangyarihan ng̃ ating lubos na cabihasnan at carapatán, ay isang bagay na hindi totoong catampatang pabayaan, sapagca't ang dilang nacacabit sa ng̃alang̃ala ay tanda ng̃ pagcapahamac, pagca-alipusta sa pagcalubog ng̃ bayan, at cung walát na ang Bayan ay lansag-lansag na rin ang Páhiná 15namamayan (Masigabong palacpacan).

¡Oh lalong calupitan! sa biglang putoc ng̃ mg̃a baril na pamatay ay sinabayan pa ng̃ hiyawang viva at bravo ng̃ mg̃a caharap doon, ng̃ lumagpac na ang catawan ng̃ Bayani, at siya na yatang pinacadasal binyagang ipinailanglang sa lang̃it.
Nasunod ang pita, ng̃uni lalong ginhawa ng̃ matapos, sapagcat unti unti ng̃ sumilang ang maliwanag na tala ng̃ caginhawahan, siyang pagcahawi ng̃ pinid na itinabing sa ating mg̃a mata at pagcawaldas ng̃ tanicalang iginapos.
Ang panglao ng̃ umaga ng̃ taong iyon ay naging liwanag na mistula sa ng̃ayon, at cung ang canyang mg̃a gawang magaling ay na sa sa puso nating lahat, asahang ang pagtatagumpay, hindi maglalaon at atin, atin, atin, atin. (Palacpacan).

Dalang̃inan siya, pacamahalin, sambahin ang mg̃a aral, masdan ang muchang iyan ni Rizal, iyang larawang Washington natin na tumuclas ng̃ sarisaring hiwaga na nacacubli sa mata ng̃ madla, na ng̃ayo'y hindi caila at kilala ng̃ calahatan.
Sulong tayo, pagpisanpisan ang hiyaw na: «¡Mabuhay ang Filipinas!» ¡Mabuhay ang Norte América! ¡Mabuhay ang habilin ni Rizal!
